At Torke Family Coffee Roasters, we value family, and we take pride in our community. Our “Every Cup Gives” initiative benefits our neighbors in need through causes focused on enhancing the quality of life within our community. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, our economy has experienced a downturn forcing families to experience food insecurity. They are now reaching out to food pantries and shelters for help with the basic need for food. Likewise, food pantries and shelters needed to adjust how they operate and provide for the community while maintaining safety.

It is estimated that over 54 million people, 18 million of whom are children, will experience food insecurity due to the pandemic's effects. In Sheboygan County, the overall food insecurity rate is expected to increase by 4%, and the child food insecurity rate is expected to climb even higher by 8.9% of the county’s population. We decided that we needed to help combat these figures by donating a portion of the proceeds of our Stay Home Roast towards the Sheboygan County Food Bank.

For over 37 years, the Sheboygan County Food Bank has led the mission of increasing food security by distributing free healthy emergency food for Sheboygan County’s shelters and food pantries. By the end of 2019, they distributed nearly 70,000 pounds of free food each month to the community. When COVID-19 hit the Sheboygan community, the Food Bank had to adjust how they accepted donations. Liz Kroll, Food Bank Director, states, “…there are a lot of pressures that go along [with our role as a food provider]. We are constantly fundraising. Torke has set up a donation avenue through their coffee distribution, the Stay Home Roast, to give money towards food, which is immensely and hugely needed. We couldn’t function without companies like Torke.”

Before the pandemic, the Sheboygan County Food Bank provided food to about 3,000 neighbors per month. Since the pandemic, that number increased to 7,000. By shopping our Stay Home Roast, you give to the hungry and support volunteers helping our neighbors in need.
